BUILDING
Our new DKV Rottweiler building consists of three rooms. We will be adding insulation, fans, and air conditioning to the building, so our Rottweilers can sleep comfortably and peacefully. We also have free-standing steel kennels available for our Rottweilers outside.
We have finally begun working on our Rottie barn. We selected a patch of land that is shaded by large oaks. We had that piece of land cleared, leveled and prepped for concrete.
We just got the concrete completed and we are on week three (out of four) letting the concrete cure. Once the concrete has dried for four weeks, we will be ready to install our metal building.
The metal building has been a headache to say the least. The build date kept getting extended, our design kept having to be changed, and even our color selection had to be changed, since our original custom selection would add an additional six weeks of waiting. I am sure we will be happy, but it sure is frustrating to keep being told we have to make changes!

Today is the day... We were told it will be standing in 24 hours! Let's see...

Well, it took a little longer than promised... We had to make compromises on materials, colors, and schedule, but it is finally standing and we could not be happier. Now, we need to get it insulated, wired for electric, and filled with cold air. There is still so much to do, and we are kind of overwhelmed, but the show must go on...
Our Rottweilers are used to being free range. They love to just play outside at their own pace. They follow Angel around when he does yard work, or they just chill under trees and play with their toys. When we are outside, our Rottweilers have access to come and go as they please. If they get hot, they can go inside and get a drink of water or lay down. We are hoping our Rottweilers will be eager to swim in the pond once they see it, since the majority of our Rottweilers love water already.
Even though we have free-standing steel kennels, we rarely use them anymore. We don't think kennels are bad, we simply don't "need" them as we did in the past. Angel is a big believer that extended periods of time in a kennel, can increase a Rottweiler's anxiety and/or frustration. Rottweilers are very social and want to interact with the family and their Rottweiler pack.

After 25+ years of breeding, our goals and priorities have changed. It's no longer about the best bloodline, best head, or best working ability. It's about the best temperament, best health, and best conformation. We can let our Rottweilers out to play in packs, and they all get along. They are stress free, they are happy, and they are social. Don't think for a second, that means they won't protect. They are so happy and loyal, that their protection is even higher. They are perfect... They are Rottweilers... They are DKV Rottweilers.
